Important note for candidates who are preparing for Railway jobs. Union Ministry of Railways announced that the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) Examination will be conducted by UPSC from 2023. IRMS posts will be recruited through a specially designed examination system namely Indian Railway Management Service Examination (IRMSE) in two phases. The Ministry of Railways has entrusted this responsibility to UPSC. At first, the pre-examination is conducted and selected candidates will be allowed to write the main exam. There will be an interview at the end.
IRMS Exam 2023 Recruitment Details
IRMS 2023 Recruitment posts are Vacancies in the Class A Engineering department at Indian Railways. The department, therefore, decided that 50% of the openings would be filled through exams and the other 50% through departmental upgrades.
Recruitment process of IRMS?
IRMS recruitment process 2023 will be conducted in two stages. The first stage will be Prelims Test written test, the Second stage Mains Exam, and the Third stage will be an interview. Those who qualify in prelims will be allowed for mains. There will be a total of four papers (essay mode) in the mains exam. It is reported that the first stage will be the same as the civil services exam.
- Paper 1 will be conducted in 22 languages mentioned in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India can be chosen
- Paper 3, 4 – Optional Subject Selection (Candidate can choose any two optional subjects as per their choice) - 250 Each - 500 Marks
- One can choose any optional subject from Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Commerce, and Accounts. The syllabus of all these papers and the selection of optional subjects is similar to the Civil Services Examinations.

The minimum Educational Qualification for IRMS Exam 2023 is Engineering Degree / Degree in Commerce / Chartered Accountancy
IRMS Exam 2023 Age Limit
The age limit for IRMS Exam 2023 jobs is said to be similar to that of civil services i.e, Minimum of 21 years to a Maximum of 32 years old.
IRMS Exam 2023 Syllabus
The syllabus for the Prelims and Mains exam of optional subjects will be identical to the Civil Services Exam (CSE).
IRMS Exam 2023 Exam Date
It is notified that the IRMS exam 2023 and the Civil Services Exam 2023 exam details will be released simultaneously. The CSE 2023 Exam notification will be released on 1 January 2023 and the prelims exam will be conducted on 28 May 2023.
