Experience Required for the FE, FS Posts

  • For Field Engineer - It is expected that applicants possess one year of post-qualification experience in rural electrification (RE)/ distribution management systems (DMS)/ sub-transmissions (ST)/ transmission lines (TLs)/ sub-stations (S/S), etc.

PSU/Listed company experience, particularly in the power sector, shall be preferred.

  • For Field Supervisor: It is expected that applicants possess one-year post qualification experience of construction/ testing and commissioning / electrical works etc. in rural electrification (RE)/ distribution management system (DMS)/ sub-transmission (ST)/ transmission lines (TLs)/ substations (S/S), etc.

PSU/Listed company experience, particularly in the power sector, shall be preferred.

Who can Apply for POWERGRID Recruitment 2021?

  • Field Engineer (Electrical) and Field Engineer (Civil):

B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Sc. (Engineering)/ BE (Power Engineering) or its equivalent universities with at least 55% for general/OBC(NCL)/EWS and pass marks for SC/ST and PWD candidates.

  • Field Supervisor (Electrical) and Field Supervisor (Civil) :

Three years of full-time training in the Electrical/Civil Engineering (depending on the job profile) discipline from a recognized Technical Board / Institute with a minimum 55% mark for General, OBC (NCL)/EWS, and pass marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates.

Higher technical qualification like B.Tech. / BE / M.Tech. /ME etc., with or without a Diploma is not allowed.

  • The age limit to apply for 2021 POWERGRID Recruitment is 29 years.

What is the Selection Process for POWERGRID Recruitment 2021?

For Field Engineer, Selection:

  • Interviews will be required of all eligible and shortlisted candidates during the selection process.
  • It is, however, possible that the management will raise the minimum eligibility standards and/or conduct a screening test, ultimately limiting the number of candidates to be called for a personal Interview.
  • The screening test, if conducted, would be used only for elimination and would not contribute to final merit. Test scheme: This test would take an hour, be composed of three sections, and have 10 questions:
  • Technical Knowledge Test – 50 questions based on Engineering syllabuses in relevant disciplines. Aptitude Test – 25 questions on logic, understanding of data, vocabulary, the sufficiency of data, and numerical ability.
  • Each of the questions will be MCQ format with four options and will carry equal weight (1 mark per option) with no negative marking.

For Field Supervisor, Selections:

  • After carefully scrutinizing all applications tied to the eligibility criteria and the desired experience profile, the selection process will be based on screening tests of the candidates found eligible after scrutiny. Candidates who qualify for the screening test will be selected based on their scores in the screening test.
  • The test’s scheme would be as follows and would last 1 hour:
  • Technical Knowledge Test – 50 questions based on the Diploma syllabus.
  • Aptitude Test – 25 questions based on logical reasoning, data interpretation, comprehension, vocabulary, data sufficiency, and numerical ability.
