UPSC CSE 2023 Exam: Salary, Job Profile, Optional Subjects

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2023 notification.  UPSC Notification 2023 was released on 1 February 2023 on the official website i.e. upsc.gov.in. The Union Public Service Commission conducts the most prestigious examination in the country CSE every year. The civil services Examination is considered one of the highly competitive exams in India. It is called Indian Administrative Services (IAS) and was formerly known as UPSC Civil Services Exam.

IAS Officer Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsibility of the entire Authority, Capability, And Opportunity to assist the needy and poor section of society.
  • Responsibility for the recovery of income, and functioning of tax courts/ Executive Magistrate.
  • Head of Development (CDO) / District Development Commissioner.
  • Supervised of implementation of State And Central Government policies.
  • Visiting different places to observe New Policy Implementation.
  • Responsibility for managing the expenditure of public funds under financial ownership.
  • Policy-making and Decision-making, IAS officers occupy different positions at various levels.

The Career of an IAS Officer

Phase I

Training at LBSNAA - Training at the District Level Allotted Cadre.

Phase II

Training at LBSNAA with week-long Foreign attachment with  India’s Diplomatic Missions

  • Central Government attachment at the nominal position of an Assistant Secretary for 3 months
  • Posting as SDM/Joint Magistrate/Sub Collector
  • Posting as Municipal Commissioner, DDO/CDO
  • Posting as DM/Collector
  • Posting at State Secretariats at Director/Joint Secretary level.
  • Deputation to the Central Government can be opted for during any stage of service after serving for a few years.
  • Responsibility of Additional Secretary in the State Secretariat/Central Secretariat
  • Chief Secretary of a state or Cabinet Secretary
