TSPSC Group 1 Guidance: 50 Days Preparation Plan

The Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) Group 1 exam is one of the most competitive exams in India. Every year, thousands of candidates appear for this exam in hopes of securing a government job in the state of Telangana. TSPSC Group 1 exam is a Route to higher services at the state level. For the first time after the formation of Telangana state, the stage is set for filling Group-1 posts. Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) has released a notification for filling a total of 503 posts in 18 departments. Applications will be accepted from May 2. With the cancellation of interviews, lakhs of candidates are likely to compete in these exams which will be held in a two-stage (prelims, mains) system. So, to be the winner in Group-1, experts suggest that one should continue preparation with commitment, perseverance, and a well-planned plan.

TSPSC Group 1 Preliminary Examination

In the preliminary exam, 150 questions will be asked for 150 marks on General Studies and Mental Ability. The duration of the exam is two and a half hours. The questions will be objective type in Telugu, English, and Urdu languages. Preliminary Qualifying Test only. Marks obtained in this will not be considered in the final selection. Based on the marks obtained in the preliminary examination, candidates 50 times the number of job vacancies will be given an opportunity to write the main examination.

TSPSC Group 1 Mains(Written Exam)

In this General English Eligibility Test along with Paper-1 (General Essay), Paper-2 (History, Culture, Geography), Paper-3 (Indian Society, Constitution, Governance), Paper-4 (Economy and Development), Paper-5 (Science) and Technology, Data Interpretation), Paper-6 (Telangana Movement, Emergence of State) and six more papers. The duration of each exam is three hours and each exam marks 150. General English will be at the 10th standard. Electronic Question Paper (e-Question Paper) will be introduced in place of printed question papers in Group-1 Mains Examinations. Selection Process Certificate verification will be conducted for the candidates who have secured at least 40 percent (35 percent for BC candidates, 30 percent for SC, ST, and disabled candidates) marks in the Group-1 Main Examination. In the next stage, a medical examination will be conducted for the respective candidates, and posting in the departments will be given according to the qualifications.

TSPSC Group 1 Prelims Preparation Plan

1. Candidates should first develop knowledge about the syllabus and Identify the right books for the syllabus.
2. Know about the pattern of questions in the respective subject. Each topic should be read concept-wise.
3. Current affairs – regional, national, international topics, international relations, and events mentioned in General Studies and Mental Ability syllabus are very important.
4. One can score easily if they read last year's current affairs thoroughly, giving the most important to the developments that took place in previous years.
5. As a part of general science, attention should be given to modern inventions, and achievements of the country in the field of science and technology.
6. Disaster management is important in environmental matters. Read disaster management, prevention, and mitigation strategies. In terms of economy and social development, it will be beneficial to read the recent socio-economic reports of Telangana state. Soils, rivers, climate changes, urbanization, forests, projects, crops, mineral resources, etc. should be focused on as part of the geography of the world, India and Telangana.
7. India's history and cultural heritage should be read comprehensively. As a part of the Indian constitution and polity, the structure of the constitution, features, amendments, fundamental rights, legislative powers, central and state relations, and the constitution of constitutional institutions – working procedure, local institutions, and welfare mechanism should be mastered.
8. The governance, government policy, and state government policies in the country should be read thoroughly.
9. Social aspects of the state, culture, heritage, arts, and literature should be given priority. Awareness should be created on social issues such as gender, caste, tribe, etc.
10. Analytical ability in logical reasoning, average, ratio, percentages, number series, coding-decoding, percentages, time-speed, number series, coding, and decoding problems related to data interpretation should be practiced.

TSPSC Group 1 Prelims 50 Days Plan

• TSPSC Group 1 prelims will be conducted in July/August. So, candidates should intensify their preparation. Make a 50-day preparation plan to study all topics by April end. Later time should be reserved for revision.
• Similar subjects mentioned in the preliminary examination and main examination syllabus should be studied together. For example, Telangana state policies mentioned in the syllabus while studying current affairs; Governance, Public Policy; International relations, and events should also be studied together.
• Also, the subject of Social Exclusion includes the constitutional aspects related to Mahiâs, SC, ST, BC, and the disabled, so the Indian Constitution and Polity should be read together with this. Science and Technology, Environment and Disaster Management, and Geography topics should be read as one section, and Science and Technology, Environment topics as another section.
• Also, it will be beneficial to study environment, disaster management, and geography as one section, and the history of India together with the culture and history of Telangana as another section. India's economic and social development should be read in relation to the Union and State budgets of current affairs.
• The highest scoring area in the syllabus is – Logical Reasoning. It should be read with concentration and without carelessness.
• Candidates should devote 10 hours daily to preparation.
• Make sure to read all sections daily.
• Allotting specific time for each section and taking necessary breaks in between each section to continue the preparation.

Candidates preparing for Group-1 should utilize the available time. Think about the days left for the exam. Assess which subjects are strong and weak in the syllabus. Gather the relevant material. Plan how many days to study a subject. Care should be taken to keep it in front of the eyes all the time. Accordingly, the preparation should be continued consistently. They should be completed within the stipulated time. While difficult topics take more time, save time while studying easy topics.

Practice bits from time to time on the topics studied. Analyze the results and know if the preparation is going in the right direction. Check the question papers of the exams and know the pattern of the questions starting from the formation of Telangana State to now. It should be noted which subject is given more weightage. Study the syllabus topics completely in 30 days and give priority to revision for the remaining 20 days.
